Rwenzori Peace Initiative (RPI)is a distinguished non-governmental, communitybased organization established in 2022 by a group of passionate young men and women dedicated to advancing good governance, fostering peace, and promoting sustainable development in the Rwenzori region through art and culture.
We seek to empower youth, young women, and other marginalized communities through innovative and creative approaches that leverage the power of art and culture—including visual and performing arts such as music, dance, painting, videography, poetry, and sculpture. We believe that these artistic expressions are vital tools for promoting peace, dialogue, and good governance.
RPI is committed to enhancing the meaningful participation of youth in governance, development and peace processes. Our efforts are guided by the principles set forth in the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 (2015), which emphasizes the crucial role of young people in the promotion of peace and conflict resolution. Our initiatives align with Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, as well as other pertinent goals, ensuring a holistic approach to fostering a peaceful and prosperous Rwenzori region.
We envision a just and inclusive community where peace and good governance are the cornerstones of development.
Our Mission is to identify, initiate and participate in strategies and actions aimed at building and promoting good governance and sustainable peace for community development.
